Some very Important Reasons to Go Pro
In this day of DIY IPOD entertainment Solutions, we at 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services have something to say on the whole matter.
Although we recognize that planning a wedding reception or any event can get expensive, we feel that there are a few things you as the potential client need to know before going IPOD at your next big event.
But rather than say it in our words, we want to introduce you to various articles written by many professional disc jockeys that have been published in Mobile Beat and Pro Sound Magazines.
Before We bring on the magazine pieces, we would like to remind you that we're not trying to scare you or intimidate you into going pro. However we want you the consumer to be fully aware of the potential pitfalls with going DIY.

Ipod Weddings by Ed Mullen
from the Mobile Beat article (Jan09) written by Ed Mullen, www.DJMrED.com”
Yet another article about the scourge of the iPod? Well, yes, but this is one to share with grooms who are being tempted by DIY…
Getting married, mister? Congratulations. Are you handling the details with your fiancée? Great. Your job is to arrange the music? Brilliant. You are doing it yourself? How so? Your iPod! You’re kidding, right? How much are you spending on your wedding? Oh, it’s a control issue? You want your favorites played? Have you really thought this through? Didn’t think so.
The "Budget" DJ - Ten Reasons To Hire A Pro
So, you've been out shopping for a DJ and with the assumption that every DJ is pretty much alike, you find someone that is 1/2 the price of other area DJs. What a bargain!
Here is what you might expect from them:
(1) They will probably not return your calls when you're frantically trying to reach them 2 weeks before your wedding.
(2) Your first dance? That will be the one song they were meaning to get, but they didn't get around to it. Would you like to dance to something else?
(3) They have a website - but it's been under construction for months and when it comes online, there really isn't much more than a photo and a couple sentences worth of content.
(4) They will hide their cheap poor quality gear behind a large self-promoting sign at your wedding.
(5) Their computer will lockup during your dance with your father. No backup - so please wait 5 minutes while he reboots.
(6) Wireless microphone? Yeah, it works, but you have to be standing right next to the DJ. All you hear is crackling when you try and use it at the head table for your toast.
(7) The DJ that had 10 years experience won't be the one who shows up to your wedding - it will be his 16 year old son.
(8) Please be sure to stand right in front of the DJ speakers if you want to hear what is being said over the microphone. He has his 15 year old speakers placed on the ground and not on speaker stands.
(9) Tux? Isn't a shirt and tie close enough?
(10) Oh, you said you DIDN'T want to hear the Electric Slide? He thought your guests would like it as well as all the other songs that you told him NOT to play.
Don't jeopardize the success of your event by cutting the wrong corners.

Your wedding DJ determines whether your reception is a boom or bust...
There are thousands of wedding disc jockeys! But how do you find the wedding disc jockey that's perfect for you? Here on BridalTips.com you'll find all the caveats to avoid, questions to ask, what DJ equipment they should be using, and what you should have included in your contract. Many tips on this page are only our opinion, you must choose what you feel is right for your wedding.
Choosing your wedding DJ is the best part of your wedding preparations. You get to meet a lot of wedding industry people who are generally nice, outgoing, and personable. Of course the big debate is DJ or Band. That's always one of the hard decisions a newlywed couple must make. The biggest advantage a wedding DJ has over a band is cost. There are some lousy bands out there and many awesome bands too, but many bands can cost a lot of money. I saw an excellent band at a function that charged $4000 for the 8 member group.
