The 20/20 Entertainment Difference
By now, chances are that you've looked through and considered a half dozen or more DJ companies who will claim to be the best and explain why they are the best. Remember only you can deciede what is best for you.
However, there are a few things that set 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services apart from the majority of our competition and we would like for you to take 5 minutes of your time to read though and become more informed. Afterall an informed client is a happy one!
So here goes!
20/20 Entertainment is a FULL TIME DJ SERVICE Provider - That's right, There will always be someone who will answer your phone call or respond to your email promptly. Any response will be clear and will adress your questions and concerns to the best of our ability.
As a full time DJ Service Provider, you are our first priority. Clients will note us for our quick response times in getting back to them.
We do everything in writting - When you sign with us or pay for any service or a deposit, we will promptly send you a reciept for money paid. We also use a written service agreement. This is for your records and piece of mind. Always insist that all venders that you deal with supply you with some sort of contract or service agreement. Make sure it clearly states all fees you will have to pay and spells out exactly what you will be getting from them in return.
We accept Credit Card Payments - Let's face it, we live in a world of plastic. Reconizing this fact of life, 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services has gone though the effort of having the ability to accept credit cards including VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS. We do not charge a fee for paying by Credit Card either. As of February 2010, we still are the only DJ Service Provider in Newfoundland who will accept payments by Credit Cards.
We have sample videos of our work - We are the only company in Newfoundland who can back up our words with Video right on the site. There are plenty of pix as well to have a look over. These videos are of events we actually preformed at and not stolen from other people's youtube videos.
We have up to 5 hours of wedding style party mixes - That's right, over 5 mixes of typical wedding music that you can download by going to the SAMPLES page. That is over 5 hours of music that you can put on for your friends and have a listen to how your event may sound like.
We are a member in GOOD Standing with the Canadian Disc Jockey's Association (CDJA) - This means that we comply with a set of ethics and standards in business practices ranging from insurance, AVLA licensing, backup equipment, and professionalism. The CDJA is the only professional Disc Jockey Association in Canada that requires each member to carry liability insurance.
As such We are Fully Insured for up to $2,000,000 public liability - We cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure your DJ Service provider is insured. Not just on the gear but incase of an accident. Many larger venues will refuse entry to a dj who cannot produce the proper paper work and should that happen to you then you could be faced with a situation where you have no entertainment.
At 20/20 Entertainment, we have actual musician or entertainer's insurance. This can be had by anyone who is a disc jockey at a reasonable cost. It is something that all djs know about and should have, however most djs here do not care to spend the little extra money for their client's piece of mind...But we do! The question remains.....if the dj won't spend on something as essential as insurance then what else is he skimping on? Remember, some djs will claim to be insured, make them produce their insurance policy that states what is covered and what isn't. The key here is to make sure that there is at least 2 million for public liability. Insurance on the gear is still "not insured".
No Pressure sales tatics - You should know that when a potential client calls concerning a booking, We will always tell them to check out the competition before they sign a service agreement with us. We want to make absolutely sure that we are the perfect choice for Your DJ Entertainment.
We will NOT try to pressure you into signing a service agreement with us until you are confident that you are making the right choice. I am sure that we have lost the odd client or two by not "snagging" them into a quick sign up, but we feel that what we offer as a company is more than enough to get people to book 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services. And we've never had 1 complaint...EVER!!!
We do NOT use Automation, Playlists, or Take breaks during your event - Computers and MP3's have allowed the DJ to have control over the music that only 15 years ago would of been a concept in a computer geek's head. Downloading music almost instantly even right at the deejay booth has allowed the DJ to do pretty much any request right there on the spot. A DJ who does not have a song is becoming more rare as more DJ operations both small and large are adapting the new technology. The cost of acquiring this music can range from the leasing of monthly music CD's from such companies such as Promo Only or ERG Music to downloading of files from sources such as LimeWire and Bearshare where the DJ pays nothing for the song. We will debate the legality of using pirated music some other day. At 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services we use Promo Only product.
With all of the cost savings that DJs now enjoy, you would think that they can now put more focus on other areas to raise the benchmark even higher, however this is rarely the case here in Newfoundland.
What has happened over the past 10 years or so is a "flood" of dj upstarts who have gotten into the business just to make a quick buck with 2 speakers, a laptop full of mp3s and some cheap wal-mart lights. This has had a negivitive effect on the industry as a whole and unfortuniatly for the client, they are the ones who really suffer in the end when they have a choice of 30 different companies and out of that number, only a half dozen or so are actually professional.
Along with using very sketchy sounding files, many DJ's are content on using a standardized playlist to just run their music selections from the whole night. Often times, you will find the DJ at the bar or out having a puff more than you would at his/her post doing their job.

At 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services, we are always at our post and unless it's an emergency will NOT leave the area. We will be here to take your requests from the beginning to the finish of the event. The music you'll hear from us at an event has been put together right there on the spot by the dj who actually "reads" the crowld.
At 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services, once the party begins, we are using our hands to control our professional media players. There are no gaps between the music and we can even use club style music techniques such as beatmatching when the music allows for it.
Our Presentation at your event vs. the other guys - Another sad truth to the local wedding disc jockey industry is their continued use of their company banners at your weddings. I would not have to write about this if it was an exception to the rule but it isn't...It's the norm.
In the process of planning the event, you've probably spent a lot of time and expense putting together the perfect look that reflects your tastes. So what gives the disc jockey the right to use sinage to advertise his service to your guests? The answer is a loud NONE...A professional disc jockey has absolutly no business sticking his 6 foot banner up anywhere inside your venue. The sings are best left in the spare bedroom only to be shown at wedding or bridal shows. This is an example of a professional wannabe who has the idea that he can get more business by making your eligent reception look and feel more like a flea market or a yard sale at the local trailer park.
If that is the desired look you're looking for than you would of at least invited Ricky, Julian and Bubbles to your reception. :)
To add insult to injury, they even have rows of business cards all laid out on their table in the hopes that people will just grab them all up. Here is a hint to these guys. If you do your job right, you won't need to use such trashy tactics to get clients. Like any good thing, they will just gravitate towards you!
One last word on Our Differences - At 20/20 Entertainment DJ Services, we are not interested in being like every other DJ company out there. Our clients have seen our differences and have signed on with no regrets.
Our goal is to provide a service like no other and to go above and beyond the client's expectations. We also do our best to take the stress out of the wedding day preparations as much as we possibly can.
